ICAN built its 10th anniversary live auction around three travel packages and one veteran auctioneer: Wendy Lambert. The Caribbean Passport opened the segment and pulled a single $12,500 bid — already four-times the reserve. Scotland Golf for 2 followed at $11,000. The Tuscany & Umbria 7-night package closed the segment with two winners at $12,000 each.
Three packages, four winners, $29,620 net to ICAN.
Why it worked
- A flexible passport package gives bidders permission to bid high — they pick the destination later, so price tolerance widens.
- Booking a benefit auctioneer who knows when to call a second winner doubled the Tuscany result.
- Consignment meant ICAN paid only on the packages that sold — no risk on the inventory itself.
Net to mission: $29,620.
